The latest version of Adobe Magazine is out. Some good reading and inspiration. I especially like how they briefly discuss how many of the projects were created. Go get it, it’s worth the time.

Six Revisions Has a brief, yet good, run-down of development tips using the Chris Pederick’s Web Developer add-on for Firefox. I especially like that Web Developer will display all of the style rules (despite location) that effect a chosen element. When trying to help students debug CSS issues, it’s difficult to know where and what in their style sheet(s) is messing with a problematic element. This will certainly help me narrow down those pesky CSS bugs.

Concrete Canvas
Sometimes someone comes along and makes something so useful that it’s embarassing that it wasn’t made decades earlier. This “concrete” tent has an estimated life of 10 years, but the real beauty is in its super-efficient deployment. Mainly designed as emergency shelters, I don’t see how one would retrofit a door or windows.

For those of you who use the Adobe Camera Raw 2.2 plug-in for Photoshop 7+, Adobe has released the 2.3 update which adds support for several more cameras and formats. This update also includes support for Adobe’s new Digital Negative format (DNG). Adobe is trying to create a “public standard” raw format which will protect all raw data from proprietary format obsolecence. From the Adobe DNG link above,
“By addressing the lack of an open standard for the raw files created by individual camera models, DNG helps ensure that photographers will be able to access their files in the future.”
I haven’t installed the new Camera Raw 2.3 plug-in yet. I’m going to wait until I hear a bit more about it. As far as the DNG format is concerned, there seems to be some skepticism as to this format’s success.
